All the World

Faith requires works. And although works cannot save you, a lack of works may be a sure sign that you are not saved! What we think, say and do are important indicators of our standing in the eyes of God. As children of God each of us should be about our Fatherís business. As the Church of God we also must be about our Fatherís business. Some things are best done individually and some things are best done collectively: The two are not mutually exclusive. A church must have an outreach or it is more a social gathering than a church. A church is a part of the family of God and as a family we: Work and play, eat and pray together and that reinforces our sense of family.

We are a small congregation but over the year we have had a disproportionate impact on our community. However, our impact outside of our community has been minimal. We are beginning to change that and I will share with you just what we are beginning to do. But first let me review some of the things we have done locally over the years.

  1. Sponsored Christian radio shows.
  2. Held seminars on the Bible.
  3. Held seminars about creation.
  4. Held seminars about evolution.
  5. Broadcast 140 one-minute radio spots informing listeners of our Christian Heritage.
  6. Gave away 450 pocket constitutions.
  7. Sponsored a room in the PCC building.
  8. Make monthly contributions to PCC.
  9. Donate radio time to PCC and Womenís Crisis center.
  10. Gave away food and clothing.
  11. Helped with utilities.
  12. Donated gasoline.
  13. Paid to house people for a few days.
  14. Shared our events such as picnics and Independence Day.
  15. Shared movies and sing-a-longs.
  16. Participated with Church of the Valley.
  17. Held Vacation Bible School.

OK, there are more things that could be added but the point is simply that we have been busy working in our community. Now it is time to move on to a larger field, the entire world.

*†† (Isa 27:6 NIV)In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.

*†† (Mark 16:14-20 NIV)Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. {15} He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. {16} Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. {17} And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; {18} they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." {19} After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. {20} Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

It would be nice if we could personally go to many of the places where the Gospel has not yet reached. Since we canít the next best thing is to support and team with those that can and those that are impacting such areas. Recently we saw a DVD called, ďVeil of Tears.Ē We were invited to join in the effort to serve and save the men, women, and children in parts of Asia. We accepted that invitation. We will send a check each month for $30 dollars. People will be helped and people will come to the Lord. Lives will be saved. Just as now we help save lives by doing our part to support the PCC and thus save lives, now we will also do something to help save lives in Asia and bring the Good news of Jesus and His kingdom to many.

There is much work to be done and we certainly canít do it all but we can most certainly do something. Let me share with you some of the literature I received about a missionary and his family that we will be working with.

  1. Show the 5-minute clip on the DVD.

Here is my final exhortation taken from Paul to the Thessalonians:

*†† (2 Th 3:13 NIV)And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.
