Do What You’re Told!

Good morning kids!

Isn’t it great to be a child of God!?

(Mark 10:13-16 NIV)  People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. {14} When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. {15} I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." {16} And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

The good child is the safe child is the wise child.

Not something we want to be told. But when some people talk we listen.

When God talks we need to listen.

It probably won’t be words you hear but God communicates with us all the time. The Bible is full of things God wants us to know and to heed. How about the video, “God Whispers” we saw last week. Do you remember?

1.      The man whispered, “God speak to me” and a meadowlark sang. But the man did not hear.

2.      So the man yelled, “God speak to me” and thunder rolled across the sky. But the man did not listen.

3.      The man looked around and said, “God let me see you.” And the sun shined brightly. But the man did not see.

4.      And the man shouted, “God show me a miracle.” And, a life was born. But, the man did not notice.

5.      So the man cried out in despair, “Touch me God and let me know you are here.” Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

The message concludes like this. Don’t miss out on a blessing because it isn’t packaged the way you expect.

Do you listen to your conscience? That could be God talking to you. Have you received a conviction about something? That could be God talking. Are you struggling about what to do in a particular situation? That could be God talking

Do you actually stop and listen when you pray or do you simply present your list of praises and prayers without waiting to hear what God has to say?

Do you make God repeat Himself? The good child does what He is told the first time.

Certainly you can ask for clarification and instructions. But don’t play dumb with God. You will fool nobody. Playing dumb is actually akin to rebellion and rebellion is sinful.

Do what you’re told.
