Donít Give Up

Seems like there is always another crisis and more bad news. Itís too hot or too cold. Itís too wet or too dry. If itís not an earthquake then itís a tsunami. If weíre not fighting one group then weíre fighting some other group or several other groups. We are our own worst enemies. What with chemical and biological, and nuclear warfare it seems we are doomed. Even if we survive all of that we will tax and spend and borrow ourselves into a third world country. And while we are killing ourselves off at ever increasing rates somehow we still need to worry about overpopulation and massive food shortages.

But wait. Help is on the way! We need someone to help us, a savior, and we have one. His name is Jesus and He rides a white horse and He has a mighty sword, and will appear in the sky accompanied by the blast of trumpets. Letís read about Him.

(Rev 19:11-16 NIV)I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. {12} His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. {13} He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. {14} The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. {15} Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. {16} On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

He ushers in a new world unlike any we have ever seen. Itís wonderful beyond imagination. Really, beyond imagination. Listen.

*†† (1 Cor 2:9 KJV)But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

*†† (1 Cor 13:12 NIV)Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

*†† (1 John 3:1-2 RSV)See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. {2} Beloved, we are God's children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

Like I said what lies ahead is gong to be wonderful, beyond imagination! Pay close attention, not everyone gets saved. But those that make it are in for something quite different from what we see today.

*†† (Isa 11:1-9 NIV)A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. {2} The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD-- {3} and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; {4} but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. {5} Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. {6} The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. {7} The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. {8} The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. {9} They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

You canít buy your way into this new world. You canít even earn your way into it. Just live like a believer and Donít Give Up! God desires that none should perish.

*†† (Luke 6:20-23 NIV)Looking at his disciples, he said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. {21} Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. {22} Blessed are you when men hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. {23} "Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

We are on a trip and although our destination seems far off itís not as far off as we think. Donít Give Up!

*†† (John 16:20-28 NIV)I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. {21} A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. {22} So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. {23} In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. {24} Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. {25} "Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. {26} In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. {27} No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. {28} I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."

Everything will be new, totally different from what we consider normal. You know that eternal question, ďWhy do bad things happen to good people.Ē Forget it, it will not be heard anymore..

*†† (Rev 21:3-7 NIV)And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. {4} He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." {5} He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." {6} He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. {7} He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

Donít think you will get a second chance. You may not. You donít know if you will be here tomorrow or even later today. Be the person you should be, all the time. Donít Give Up!

*†† (2 Pet 2:20-22 NIV)If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. {21} It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. {22} Of them the proverbs are true: "A dog returns to its vomit," and, "A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud."

No wicked person will be in that new world. There really is a hell and itís not a happy place. You really donít want to go there and you donít have to. Just live your life for Jesus. Try to be like Him. Do what you know you should do. No excuses and no alibis. Donít fool yourself. God is not mocked. Study to show yourself approved. Open yourself to the Holy Spirit. Donít Give Up! Listen to what Jesus sdaid about the time of judgment.

*†† (Mat 13:49-51 NIV)This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous {50} and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. {51} "Have you understood all these things?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they replied.

You donít want to be in the wrong group! Donít Give Up!

*†† (Heb 12:1-3 NIV)Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. {2} Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. {3} Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

When we love someone we are willing to do extraordinary things for that person. Do you love God? Really? I will conclude with a video. Itís a love song to God and contains images that will touch your heart and may make you say, Aaah. As nice as this video is it doesnít begin to reveal what the future holds for us if we, Donít Give Up!
