I Can Make a Difference

  1. Areas where we seem powerless

*†† Voting

*†† World peace

*†† Eliminating hunger

*†† Eliminating poverty

*†† Stopping crime

*†† Improving race relations

*†† Stopping all kinds of injustice

  1. (Eccl 7:1 NIV)A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.

*†† Born as a blank check

*†† Die as a check cashed or a check bounced

*†† The point is - the world should be a better place because we were here! Our God should not regret that he made us.

  1. The real question is not how powerful we are. Itís how do we live. How do we serve our God and our neighbors!

*†† (Mark 12:30-31 KJV)And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. {31} And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

  1. This life is a proving ground

*†† (Luke 16:10 NIV)"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

  1. Letís look at some of these ďLittle ThingsĒ

*†† Family, spouse and children. (1 Tim 5:8 NIV)If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

*†† Parents, (Mark 7:10 NIV)For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.'

*†† Our neighbors and our brothers and sisters in the Lord, (Gal 6:10 NIV)Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

*†† The weak and the poor and the downtrodden, (Mat 25:37-46 NIV)"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? {38} When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? {39} When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' {40} "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' {41} "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. {42} For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, {43} I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' {44} "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' {45} "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' {46} "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

  1. The essence isnít in the knowing but in the doing!

*†† Consider this, the Lord was willing to do what ever it took. How about you?

*†† Are we really making a, ďGood faithĒ effort in all the areas we should?

*†† (Mark 16:15 NIV)He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

*†† (Deu 11:18-19 NIV)Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. {19} Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

*†† (Luke 6:31 NIV)Do to others as you would have them do to you.

*†† (John 13:34-35 NIV)"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. {35} By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

*†† (Mat 5:43-44 NIV)"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' {44} But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

*†† (Mark 16:15-16 NIV)He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. {16} Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

*†† When was the last baptism you took part in?

  1. Donít we have a precious gift that all people need to know about?

*†† If you knew your neighbors house was going to catch on fire this very night what would you do?

*†† How about if you knew a certain airline was going to crash and kill all aboard?

*†† How about if you knew a certain course of action, that is life style, would cause the death of someone you love.

  1. We know such things and we can make a difference. The world can be a better place because we were here.

*†† Letís work together to make a difference

*†† Letís not delay

*†† Letís start right now, today

*†† Letís pray!
